We live and work in what has to be the
prettiest part of Oklahoma, which
makes it such a pleasure to be a part of the real estate service business in
our great state.
I used to try to work all of McCurtain and Choctaw Counties, but soon discovered
that there’s not enough time in the week to be spread that thin. Currently
we work from the Redland area east of Idabel to Hugo. Our main route is highway 70 so we work with
properties within an approximate rectangle 10 miles north of 70 and 10 miles
south of 70 from Redland to Hugo. That
area includes Redland, Idabel, Garvin,
Millerton, Wright City, Valliant, Swink, Fort Towson, Sawyer, and Hugo.
This area includes Pine Creek Lake, Hugo Lake, Raymond Gary Lake, and Schooler Lake. If you have property that you would like to sell in

The county seat of McCurtain County is Idabel.
It is
the largest city / town in the extreme southeast corner of Oklahoma with a population of about 7000. Idabel is only about 20 miles from Texas
and about 20 miles from Arkansas, just a couple of hours from the Dallas
– Fort Worth, Texas area and about 3 to 3 ½ hours from the Oklahoma City area
or from Tulsa, Oklahoma according to Internet travel sites. I think that
most of the time, it takes folks just a tad longer to drive those distances,
but the point is that we’re close enough for folks in the larger cities to get
here in a relatively short time period to enjoy the great rivers, lakes, and
countryside that we have to offer.
Southeast Oklahoma is the fisherman’s paradise and the hunters dream.
If you want to fish the corp of engineer’s
lakes, come to Southeast Oklahoma for Broken Bow Lake, Pine Creek Lake, and Hugo Lake.
If you want to live on the water,
own the shore and fish out the back door, come to Raymond Gary Lake for waterfront
property. Raymond Gary Lake is
only a short driving distance to both Hugo Lake and Pine Creek Lake.
So even though Raymond Gary is a “no wake” excellent fishing lake, if
you want to ski, etc., you can be on a larger lake in a matter of minutes,
while living on the water at Raymond Gary. There are acres and acres of hunting
land in both McCurtain and Choctaw Counties.

Pine Creek Lake and it’s
fishing and hunting areas is located here.
Festivals, we have them.
There’s Dogwood days (in Spring in Idabel), Owachita
(Festival of the Forest) at Beavers Bend (Summer at Broken Bow Lake), Blue
Grass Festival (late Summer at Hugo), annual Watermelon Festival (Summer at
Valliant), Fall Fest (Idabel, October), Lumberjack Festival (late summer in
Wright City), Beaver’s Bend Folk Festival and Craft Show (Summer Broken Bow
lake). This means that there is always
something fun being planned in the area.
Hugo hosts “Balloons Over Hugo” annually. This year it was in July. Then there’s always the Christmas parades,
Independence Day celebrations on the 4th of July…there’s just always
something in the works in our great area.
Lake Raymond Gary does a beautiful job of decorating the park at
Christmas time and of having fireworks on the water annually on the 4th
of July.
Ride the Frisco train from Hugo or float Mountain Fork River from Broken Bow Lake.
Take a tour of historical homes and places on the national
registry. Visit the Barnes/Steavenson home in Idabel and discover the rich history and
heritage of our area or tour the old fort at Fort Towson in Choctaw County, if you enjoy Civil War History.
